Whenever you were sick while you were younger, your parents have probably given you chicken noodle soup. Even as adults, this is the one meal that sticks in our minds when we catch the flu. There are so many reasons soups and broths are so good for you when you are ill; they are nutrient packed, easy to digest, and tasty.

Recently, bone broth shops have been popping up all over the city. The broth is given to you in sippable cups similar to coffee, which allows for a quick meal on-the-go. Most places allow you to add in more substantial foods, such as meat or noodles, and extra nutritional seasonings such as ginger, tumeric, and grass-fed butter. My new go-to lunch: chicken or beef bone broth with zucchini noodles and chicken added in - the low-carb version of chicken noodle soup.

Here are some places around campus where you can get some delicious bone broth.

1. Barneys Bone Broth - 21 Waverly Place

Recommended: Barneys Signature (mix of four different kinds of broth)

2. Springbone Kitchen - 90 W 3rd Street

Recommended: Kimchi Beef Broth

3. Brodo - 496 Hudson Street, 200 1st Avenue, or 236 Lafayette Street

Reccommended: Sipping Beauty
